Breast Reduction Before and After

Testimonials Written from Patients

What’s the Cost of Breast Reduction Surgery?

The cost of breast reduction surgery can vary, with a common price range being $12,000-$16,000, though costs can vary depending on the specifics of your surgery.

The total cost usually involves several fees:

  • Surgeon's fee
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Operating room fees
  • Post-surgical garments
  • Prescriptions for medication

The lower end of the price range reflects out-of-pocket expenses for patients whose insurance covered some of their surgery.

Will Insurance Cover My Breast Reduction Surgery?

Insurance can cover the cost of surgery based on a determination that reconstructive breast reduction surgery is necessary to restore normal physical function. A breast reduction surgeon such as Dr. Brenner in Beverly Hills can document the physical need for the surgery, as California law requires plans that cover breast reduction to provide benefits when certain criteria are met. The first point is that macromastia must be diagnosed as the reason for the functional impairment. A visit to Dr. Brenner’s Beverly Hills clinic will accomplish the necessary physical examination. During your visit, Dr. Brenner will document any other functional impairments.

Functional impairments can include:

  • Severe skin rashes that do not respond to medical treatment
  • Severe functional impairment of physical activity
  • Rounding of the spine caused by the weight of the breasts (kyphosis)
  • Signs of nerve compression
  • Chronic breast pain from the weight of the breasts
  • Shoulder grooving from bra straps
  • Headache, back and neck pain

Incision Options

Lollipop Incision

In some cases, Dr. Brenner will use a lollipop incision, which is around the areola and down the front of the breast, extending down to the inframammary fold.

Anchor Incision

In most women with very large breasts, a full (or anchor pattern) incision will be required in order to remove the severely excess breast skin. This tends to be the most common incision type, as it allows Dr. Brenner a higher degree of control over his ability to contour the breast mound, removing excess skin and shaping your results to your satisfaction.

  • Extremely large breasts are a condition known as macromastia, or breast hypertrophy.
  • In addition to back problems, it can cause issues like rashes, shoulder pain, and more.
  • According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, over 10,000 have breast reduction surgery each year.
  • Breast reduction patients are often among the happiest patients of any procedure Dr. Brenner offers.

Superior Results, Thanks to Dr. Brenner’s Supero-Medial Based Pedicle

Dr. Brenner’s commitment to procedure excellence has led to the development of an experienced aesthetic eye, and over the years he’s developed his own method for breast reduction. By utilizing a supero-medial based pedicle, he’s able to create perkier breast mounds which remain in proportion to the patient’s chest size and width, for a perkier look that avoids the risk of bottoming out or taking on a more boxy appearance.
